Today KIPP Memphis Collegiate Schools (KMCS) receives 85% of the state funding awarded to other public schools. In addition, no funds are provided for facilities or transportation. Even so, KMCS is dedicated to exposing students to an education that will engage them in positive ways in their community and in their futures. This makes the partnership with our friends and donors especially critical. KIPP Memphis Collegiate Schools raises money to off-set the deficit in per-pupil funding as well as provide crucial resources for our students climbing the mountain to and through college.
Your gift will have an immediate and long-term impact on the children of Memphis. Examples of how you can invest in KIPP students and their educational experience include:
$10,000 will provide technology (laptops and smart boards) for incoming faculty members, empowering them to teach technology-related skills and allowing them to monitor student performance instantly.
$5,000 will provide a named need- and/or merit-based scholarship for one student entering college.
$1,000 makes it possible for a child to earn school supplies, uniforms, and other items needed for individual success in the classroom (*this will sponsor one child for one academic year).
$300 will provide all necessary textbooks for one student in their ninth grade year.
$100 will allow one student to earn and engage in local field lessons that expose them to Memphis’ best museums and cultural sites over an entire year.
Other Opportunities for Support
In addition to monetary giving, we would love for you to join our team through one of the following avenues:
- Host a program for students in your area of expertise
- Tutor one student weekly or monthly
- Support our KIPP Through College program by taking students on college visits and/or providing scholarships
- Host an event or invite others to support our work
- Host a local or end-of-year field lesson
- Donate new or gently used library books, school supplies, or technology.
