Update: KIPP Memphis Expansion Moves Forward with New School Building in Cordova
April 2026: We’re excited to share a major milestone in the continued growth of KIPP Memphis Public Schools.
Following last year’s approval to expand, we are proud to announce that our newest school will be located at 7275 Goodlett Farms Parkway in the heart of Cordova. This new campus marks an important step forward in our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible education to more families across the Memphis community.
The school will open for the 2027-28 school year, serving grades K–2, with plans to grow in the coming years. In addition to strong academic foundations, this campus will feature a special focus on performing arts, creating opportunities for students to explore creativity, build confidence, and express themselves from an early age.
This expansion reflects both the demand from families and our belief that every child deserves access to an excellent education that develops the whole student—academically, socially, and creatively.
As we prepare to welcome our first class of students, we look forward to sharing more updates with our community, including enrollment information, community engagement opportunities, and a closer look inside the new building.
The foundation has been set. Now the story continues. Stay tuned.

A Teacher and Parent Perspective
Akia Green, both a proud KIPP Memphis teacher and parent, spoke about the transformation her family has experienced:
“The love, structure, and academic excellence we’ve received have supported my family’s growth in every way. As a parent, I want families in Cordova to have the same opportunity to thrive as our current KIPPsters. As a teacher, I know what’s possible when students are given the right environment to learn and lead.”
Leadership with Heart
Kimberly Holt, Assistant Principal at KIPP Memphis Collegiate Elementary, emphasized the depth of KIPP’s commitment to the whole child:
“Our impact extends beyond the classroom. We are building strong communities, and expanding to Cordova means more students and families can benefit from the KIPP difference. Memphis scholars are ready.”
Community-Connected Classrooms
My’Angel Benton, a KIPP Memphis teacher deeply rooted in the community, described the environment KIPP creates:
“We don’t just teach—we empower. Cordova deserves a school that listens, leads, and lifts families up. A vote for KIPP Cordova is a vote for more classrooms like mine—places where high expectations are matched with deep relationships.”
The Parent and Board Member Experience
Board Secretary and KIPP parent Jane Maina shared her personal and leadership perspective:
“That kind of achievement doesn’t happen by accident—it’s the result of strong academics, caring teachers, and a village that believes in every child. Opening a new elementary in Cordova means giving more families a chance to experience what I know works.”
A Voice for Families
Danielle Taylor, a KIPP parent and student recruiter, underscored the enthusiasm in the community:
“Whether I’m in the community, at events, or talking with neighbors, I’m always sharing what makes KIPP special: the team-and-family culture, their focus on student growth, and the real results we see every day. A new KIPP elementary would be a blessing for the Memphis community.”
A Creative and Performing Arts Focus
KIPP Cordova Collegiate Elementary will not only provide the rigorous academics and character development that define the KIPP model but will also offer a unique emphasis on Creative and Performing Arts. This focus will nurture students’ talents in music, dance, theater, and visual arts—providing them with more avenues to express themselves, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive in school and life.
Looking Ahead
Under the leadership of CEO Dr. Antonio Burt, KIPP Memphis continues to expand access to excellent education for all children, with the belief that every student—regardless of their zip code—deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead. The opening of KIPP Cordova Collegiate Elementary marks another step toward fulfilling that vision.
Enrollment information for KIPP Cordova Collegiate Elementary will be available soon.
Together, we are building a future where more Memphis and Cordova students can dream big, work hard, and achieve a future without limits.
