All About The

KIPP Memphis Approach!

KIPP schools are tuition-free, public charter schools open to all students. We believe every student walks through the doors of school bearing gifts. Talent. Perspective. Drive. Inspiration. So at KIPP Public Schools, we support every student to see those gifts, then build the skills and confidence they need to pursue their highest aspirations.

My KIPP school taught me to be a leader. The teachers are always telling me that I have a good life a head of me, that I’m smart, that I’m a good person, and it makes me think more of myself and my future.
— Shawn Cook KMAM Class 2025

What makes KIPP different

At KIPP Public Schools, we believe that an excellent college-prep education will set students up for success in whatever life path they choose. Our students complete college at a rate that is above the national average for all students and four times higher than that of students from similar economic backgrounds. Below are a few ways that our schools rank above the rest. For more information, visit our KIPP National website.

High Expectations

We create a culture of support and achievement and personalize learning based on a student’s needs, skills, and interests.

Focus on Character

We believe that our students need both a strong academic foundation and well-developed character strengths to succeed in college and the world beyond.

Highly-Effective Teachers and Leaders

We empower educators to lead school teams and invest in training to help them grow as professionals.

Safe, Structured, & Nurturing Environment

Our schools provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment so that our students thrive and maximize their learning.

KIPP Forward

Counselors support students as they prepare for college and career, and navigate social, academic, and financial challenges while in college.

WHAT DO OUR

KIPPSTERS SAY?

Damilla
CLASS OF 2024

“I started at KMPM in the 5th grade. Both of my older brothers go to KMCH, and I am excited to go there when I graduate middle school, too. I like that teachers and students show respect and pride at KIPP. My favorite thing is the end of year field lessons, when we go across the state; last year we went to Texas, and the year before we went to Little Rock, Arkansas. I get to see places outside of Memphis, and it makes me excited to go to college. Right now, I think I want to go to UConn when I graduate.”
