KIPP Memphis Celebrates Double Distinction: Named Reward Schools and Level 5 Achievers

KIPP Memphis Public Schools proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of its schools; KIPP Memphis Collegiate Elementary (KMCE), KIPP Memphis Collegiate Middle (KMCM), and KIPP Memphis Academy Middle (KMAM) in being named Reward Schools, the apex of accountability for exemplary student performance and growth. Reward Schools listed by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) are those that have an overall federal accountability score greater than or equal to 3.1 out of 4.0. This momentous accomplishment resulting from the 2022-23 school year highlights KIPP Memphis' steadfast commitment to fostering academic excellence and student triumph.

The acknowledgement as Reward Schools alongside the attainment of Level 5 status represents the exceptional efficacy of KMCE, KMCM and KMAM in advancing our KIPPsters beyond the standards of academic growth. These achievements reflect the exemplary learning environment cultivated at KIPP Memphis, where students flourish academically and personally.

“The recognition of these three schools as Reward Schools and Level 5 achievers is a testament to the transformative power of education in our community,” said Dr. Antonio Burt, KIPP Memphis Chief Executive Officer. "This achievement exemplifies our relentless pursuit of excellence and our dedication to every KIPPster’s preparedness to lead a fulfilling life.”

"We are immensely proud of the tireless efforts exhibited by our KIPPsters, educators, staff, and families," said Melody Smith, KMCE Principal. "Earning the distinction of Reward Schools and achieving Level 5 status are profound milestones that validate our commitment to academic excellence and student success."

"We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition," said Dr. Veda Turner, KMCM Principal. "It underscores the strength of our school community and reinforces our belief in the potential of every KIPPster to excel."

As we celebrate this significant accomplishment, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering all students through our mission: Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.

**KMAM was closed following the 2022 school year due primarily to low enrollment.
