KIPP Cordova Collegiate Elementary opens in August 2027 as a tuition-free arts-integrated school. Below are answers to the questions families ask us most.

What grades will the school serve?

  • The school will open serving Kindergarten through 2nd grade beginning the 2027-28 school year, and will add one grade level each year until serving K–5.

What makes this school different?

  • KIPP Cordova Collegiate Elementary combines strong academics with daily arts instruction in voice and dance, helping students build confidence, creativity, and academic excellence from an early age.

Will students perform?

  • Yes. Every student will participate in at least one theater, vocal, or dance performance each year, building confidence and self-expression.

How will the arts be taught?

  • Students will learn from professional teaching artists through our partnership with Hatiloo Theatre, a nationally recognized Memphis theater organization.

Is this a KIPP school?

  • Yes. KIPP Cordova Collegiate Elementary is part of KIPP Memphis Public Schools, providing the same strong academic foundation and college- and career-ready focus KIPP is known for.

Who can apply?

  • Students entering Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade in the opening year (2027-28) are eligible to apply.

Is transportation available?

  • Yes. Free transportation is available for students. Bus stops are determined based on proximity to the areas where enrolled students live, helping ensure families in the communities we serve have access to the school.

Will the school grow with my child?

  • Yes. The school will expand one grade each year, allowing founding families to continue through elementary school as we grow to K–5.

How many students will be accepted?

  • Enrollment will begin with approximately 200 scholars in grades K–2 in the 2027-28 school year and will grow each year. We aim to build strong enrollment and a waitlist ahead of full K–5 expansion.

How do I apply?

  • Applications will open September 1. In the meantime, families are encouraged to complete our interest form so we can keep you informed and share next steps when enrollment begins. Once applications open, families will be able to apply online or receive support from the KIPP Memphis enrollment team throughout the process.
